At the weekend we enjoyed lunch in one of our favourite restaurants in Brighton. Pinocchios is an Italian restaurant opposite the Brighton Pavilion conveniently situated practically next door to the Theatre Royal.  Its location also benefits from al fresco seating outside on the pedestrianised area with views of the pavilion gardens.  And on a sunny day the seating outside is always very popular.  We are regulars at this friendly restaurant, not just because we are set in our ways but because they have a tried and tested formula that works for us every time.  The prices are very reasonable, service friendly and efficient and what most appeals to us is that our kids absolutely love it there; the food is consistently eccellente!

The restaurant and staff

We chose a wet blustery January day for lunch and yet the weather certainly hadn’t put off any diners.  The restaurant was packed (it has seating arranged over two floors) and the atmosphere was buzzing and happy.  We asked for a table for four and only had to wait a couple of minutes whilst our waitress cleared the table for us.  We sat in the window downstairs with a great view of the pavement outside (often frequented by street entertainers).  We ordered some drinks immediately and soon after the waitress took our food order.  At no point did we feel hurried, the waitress was attentive but not overly intrusive.

The food

I ordered a glass of house red wine and I was really impressed with the quality (not that I am a real wine buff but I think I can recognise a drinkable glass).  We ordered kids sizes of a pasta pomodora and a Margarita pizza for the children.  I was really impressed by the huge kids portions.  Both dishes were yummy and went down very fast!

My husband and I both ordered pasta dishes, they were absolutely delicious, so much so I’m feeling hungry just looking at them now! The restaurant also has a lovely fresh salad bar, I normally always have a salad and although I didn’t on this occasion I definitely recommend it ..

Pinocchios restaurant is currently running a competition to win a meal for 2 on Valentines Day, all you have to do is ‘like’ and ‘share’ their Facebook post available here.  Good luck!

Further information including menus are available on the restaurants website.

Enjoy you meal!

  1. Lived in Brighton for 7 years – but never set foot in this place! Think I always dismissed it as a restaurant for tourists, but I think I’ll give it a go after reading your great review.
